About me

Hello! I’m Chris Alexander, the man with the lucid eye! I’m a Spanish to English translator with a love for writing.

I’m from Newcastle in the UK and spend most of my time here, although I do travel to the beautiful city of Girona in Spain several times a year. I have a First Class Honours Degree in Spanish and History and I am currently studying for a MA in Translation. I have also completed proofreading courses with the Society of Editors and Proofreaders and I am a qualified TEFL teacher.

My CV is quite wide and varied. I worked for a bank for a number of years. I have also worked in sales and customer services, taught English in Argentina, worked in the care industry, and also as a quality analyst. I now offer my services as a translator in the Spanish to English language pair, as a content writer specializing in travel writing, and also as an English teacher.

I have travelled far and wide. Spain is a particular favourite of mine but I have been to many other countries in Europe. I also spent a year travelling around the globe with only my backpack for company. I began in South America, before moving onto Australia, South East Asia, and finishing off in India. A few years later I was back in South America teaching English in Argentina. This gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the wonders of this amazing country for a second time.

I have a great love for all things Spanish; the culture, the history, the people, the music, the dancing, the nightlife, the beaches, the tapas, the wine, and, of course, the language. I have been learning Spanish for more than fifteen years and, although there is always room for improvement, I would describe myself as a fluent speaker with great communication skills. Working with the Spanish language and finding the correct equivalent in my native tongue through my translation work gives me enormous satisfaction, as does my work as a writer and as a teacher.
